I got my Ph.D. in physics at New York University in the
area of General Relativity theory.
At Carnegie Mellon University, I am a Senior Lecturer in
the Physics Department and also a staff member of the
Carnegie Mellon Action Project (CMAP).
I actively participate in the physics department and
university initiatives to improve the teaching,
performance, academic assistance, and retention of
students in the introductory physics courses. I teach
recitations in all of the four introductory courses in
science and engineering and have extensive office hours
for the students in these courses. I actively assists in
managing and teaching the introductory courses, and in
the training and advising of Graduate Teaching Assistants.
The CMAP program provides academic assistance to minority
students. I actively participate with the CMAP staff in
the retention program, in advising all CMAP students in
academic and personal matters, and in collaborative
initiatives and programs to enhance and monitor the performance of minority students in the introductory
physics courses. During the summer Carnegie Mellon University and CMAP offer The Summer
Academy for Math and Sciences (SAMS) program, which is a
pre-college program for junior and senior high school
minority students. As the CMAP physics instructor for the
SAMS program, I designed the content and structure of the
summer physics course. I also developed its teaching
format in accord with the physics department general
initiatives to improve the introductory physics courses.
