The Scientific Council of the Joint Institute for
Nuclear Research, JINR (Dubna, Russia) has awarded
the 2005 Bruno Pontecorvo Prize to
Prof. Lincoln Wolfenstein of Carnegie Mellon University
for the prediction and study of the influence of
matter on neutrino oscillations, now known as the
Mikheyev-Smirnov-Wolfenstein effect.
